Visara Announces
Increased LPAR Support, Improved Console Consolidation Features and New
Security Server for Consoles and Communication Servers
128 LPAR Support, Console Session Sharing, Console Buffering and
a New SSL Encryption Server Extend Product Line
Raleigh, N.C. – [March
3, 2004] – Visara International, a world leader in the innovation,
development and delivery of network computing solutions, today announced
expanded capabilities of its mainframe console solutions with the introduction
of the Visara SSL1000 and enhancements to existing products.
The Visara SSL1000 helps customers meet the security
demands of public access to their private networks by providing SSL security
for Visara console concentrators or any other LAN-attached server, including
IBM 2074s or mainframes. The SSL1000 provides encrypted sessions on the
network side and clear text on the customer side, without the administering
of complicated security policies. With no requirements for a keyboard,
monitor or mouse, the SSL1000 is managed locally or remotely with a web
browser.
“The challenge of securing your mainframe
consoles and applications over the corporate network continues to intensify
as network boundaries are eliminated and enterprise networks are opened
to customers, suppliers and numerous employees and locations,” said
David Turner, Vice President Sales and Marketing, Visara International.
“We recognize the importance of security is greater today than ever
before and introduced this new product to meet the demands of our customers.”
Additional product enhancements to the Visara
enterprise line include console session sharing, session buffering and
128 LPAR support. The Visara SCON console concentrators now provide session
sharing for 24 TN3270 clients per console session, as well as offering
console buffering for TN3270 clients. Console session sharing provides
enhanced data center management, since more than one operator can sign
on to a single session (remotely if necessary) to diagnose a problem or
error. Remote management becomes more reliable with the new Console session
buffering which eliminates “time-outs” typically experienced
by remote users. Additionally, one pair of SCON console concentrators
now provide all of the console connectivity for up to 128 LPARs, including
full redundancy.
The SSL1000 and updated products are currently
available through Visara International and its network of partners. Visit
