Visara Announces Enhancements to Management Platform Supporting Thin Clients and Communications Servers, including Linux-based Desktops

Raleigh, NC - October 2, 2001 - Visara, Inc., today announced enhancements to its eManager network management platform that provides a wide range of administrative tools designed to centrally maximize network efficiencies. eManager supports Visara's family of thin client desktops and line of communications servers. These new features offer exceptional functionality to network administrators and help desk operators.

Compatible with Windows 95/98/NT/2000 and Linux operating systems, eManager is a valuable management tool that empowers network administrators to review and update applications and configuration parameters of individual users, while enabling help desk operators to diagnose and solve problems. eManager offers a Windows front-end design that allows new applications, updates and configurations to be pushed or pulled to thin client desktops or communications servers. Through the use of centralized code distribution, eManager enables consistency of desktop configurations throughout the network.

eManager enhancements are targeted to provide ease of use and simplicity for the network. The ability to centrally backup configurations, generate reports, and effortlessly restore unique configurations have been incorporated into the platform. Network security has been heightened through eManager's unique management password capability. Network standardization is maximized through eManager's database, while the new AutoLocate feature allows for devices to be quickly located on the network. Distribution of new code or configurations to predefined or dynamic groups has been simplified, which allows for the optimization of the network and its resources.

"With eManager, we give network administrators the tools to centrally manage Visara communications servers and thin client desktops, monitor network activity, and remotely provide desktop code and configuration updates," said John W. Wells, Director of Marketing for Visara, Inc. "Network administrators and help desk operators can troubleshoot platforms, diagnose and correct user problems without touching each desktop or remote location. Network control can truly be done at a very low cost."
